Having a dance

Aint he just the cutest! Having had the door bouncer for over 2 months, Charlie has finally learnt how to bounce in it.

Books, Books, Books

Being the son of a self-confessed bookaholic means the little guy has been surrounded by books since birth. These are our current favourites.

Food Food Food

We started weaning at 21 weeks and I was super excited. We're now 3 weeks in and the great food adventure continues. Daddy bear has real food issues whilst I'll eat pretty much anything. I want our beautiful son to grow up with a real love for food, I want us to share everyday home cooked meals, pizza night treats, Chinese and Indian and Thai meals, the fun of making cakes together, trying new foods on holiday and sharing with family and friends. I want my son to take after me and not Daddy for this one.

So weaning is a BIG thing for me. At the moment we're on the basics - baby rice and porridge, carrots, parsnips, butternut squash, apple, pear, peach and papaya - but last night I cooked veggie soup and baby bear and I both had some - to sit and eat the same, healthy home cooked meal as my boy felt wonderful. Yes his table manners are atrocious, yes more food went in his nose, hair and eyebrows then in his mouth and yes he spit up a lot of it, but this first shared meal will be remembered.

And he's getting the hang of the sippy cup too!

Daddy's Little Clone

Since birth Charlie has looked just like T, as the months fly by and he grows into his own little face, the resemblance is still strong. Our little man with his own personality, thoughts and opinions (v loud 3am opinions at that!) seems to be growing up just like his Dad.

Can you guess who is who? I think the retro picnic blanket might give it away!

Sporadic posting

This is supposed to have evolved into a blog to capture my maternity leave with Charlie, but I never seem to have any time! There's always washing or cleaning or cooking to be done, so as C feeds/sleeps on my lap, I'll type one handed and catch up bullet style with the last two months!

- After our Dorset holiday we had a week at home then a week with my parents in Wiltshire. We caught up with Amy and Katharine, both soon-to-be Mummy's and Charlie got tons of Granny and Grandad time.

- 24th Aug we went to The Shy Horse near Chessington for Granny's 60th birthday lunch. Charlie met Helen's Tom and the greedy among us has delish chocolate brownies for pudding. In the evening Uncle S came and Charlie rewarded him with a big smile. The personalised photo album I made for Mum was a big hit.

- Bank holiday weekend we went to Norfolk with D and T. It rained. We went to the beach. We had a yummy pub lunch. We fed the swans. JL came too.

- Charlie started sleeping through the night - hooray. Then a month later started waking up again - boo.

- Charlie grew steadily and continues in the 60th centile for weight.

- Daddy bear became Charlie's best friend, he just has to walk in the room and C will smile.

- Tuesday nursery rhymes at Sydenham library, we were on London Tonight for a story about the possible library closure. Zoe & Daisy, Jess & Lila and Pippa & Miette come too. Afterwards we have Mummy coffee sessions.

- Wednesday swimming - Charlie was bemused at first but now loves the water.
